Bolt Rolls Out Multi-Stop Rides, 25% Discounts Amid Fuel Cost Pressure

Malaysia’s rising fuel and living costs continue to impact households across Malaysia, ride-hailing platform Bolt is launching a series of measures to help commuters manage the impact, including ride discounts of up to 25% and expanded promotion of its multi-stop ride feature, which allows passengers to share trips and save up to 35% per journey.

Bolt's operating model — built on efficiency since the company was founded in 2013 — enables it to pass cost savings on to both passengers and driver partners, allowing the platform to offer competitive pricing even as transport costs rise.

"We recognise that rising fuel costs are having a real impact on how Malaysians get around, and we're focused on delivering solutions that offer real, everyday value," said Afzan Lutfi, General Manager of Bolt Malaysia. "Through initiatives such as ride discounts and shared travel options, we aim to help passengers better manage their daily transport costs while offering affordable, reliable alternatives that reduce reliance on private car ownership."
Bolt's multi-stop feature lets passengers add up to three drop-off points within a single trip, enabling passengers heading in a similar direction to share the cost. Bolt platform data shows two stops per trip is the most common configuration, reflecting growing adoption of shared travel among Malaysian users. Savings vary depending on time of day, total distance, and number of stops.

To further ease the commuting experience, Bolt has also increased driver availability during peak periods to reduce wait times and limit surge pricing. The platform’s ride scheduling feature allows users to plan trips in advance, giving commuters greater control over both timing and cost.
